Back To Nature

Long before antiseptic creams and lozenges came along, natural ingredients like honey, milk and a blend of medicinal leaves were used to cure common ailments. Although modern science has taken over, traditional practices like Naturopathy, Homeopathy and Ayurvedic medicine are still popular options. So before forking out a fortune for that anti-wrinkle cream, head for the kitchen instead. Here are five DIY remedies to treat common ailments:

Hang Up: Aching Feet
Fix It: Pour warm water into a tub or basin. Add two teaspoons of salt with a handful of mustard seeds and soak your feet for 20 minutes.

Hang Up: Hair Loss
Fix It: Mix two tablespoons of olive oil, juice from one lemon, one egg yolk and a handful of crushed rosemary. Apply on hair roots for half and hour and wash off.

Hang Up: Minor Cuts
Fix It: Honey is a natural antibiotic. Just dab a tiny bit of natural honey on the cut and over it with a plaster.

Hang Up: Sore Throat
Fix It: Chop an inch of ginger root and soak it 1/3 cup of boiling water. Stir in one tablespoon of honey and drink when it is still warm.

Hang Up: Wrinkles
Fix It: Mix one teaspoon of olive oil, one egg yolk and two tablespoons of ground oatmeal into a thick paste. Wait for at least half an hour before applying it on the face. Once dried, wash off with warm water.
